The Dead Sea Scrolls of the Qumran Caves were discovered by a Bedouin boy, a shepherd, in 1947, the same year this author was born. Archaeologists arrived in 1949 and many more Scrolls of the Judean Desert were discovered in this first cave and a dozen other caves. The scrolls were well preserved, having been buried in elongated sealed pottery jars. These scrolls found in this, and other caves, destroyed the myth that all of the Bible was written after Jesus’ time, since all of the scrolls proved to predate the time of Christ Jesus. The Isaiah Scroll and the Daniel Scroll proved to be several hundred years before the first century. The Isaiah scroll foretold of the coming of Christ Jesus and the Daniel scroll laid out coming history and that history we have seen unfold. The truth of Christianity was strongly proven with the discovery of these scrolls.
I had the privilege of traveling over Israel and visiting Qumran in March. We could see for ourselves the ruins of the community of scribes who faithfully reproduced the scrolls from antiquity, and who secreted the scrolls in the caves as the Roman army approached in A.D. 70. And because the caves are in an arid region the scrolls, so carefully hidden away, survived to our day. God was also protecting them from destruction so that those individuals today who do not know if the Bible is real could believe the truth of the written Word. This discovery destroyed many myths about the Bible, but some people are still pushing these myths, long proven false, as if they are truth. In case you are still wondering about the truth of the Bible, don’t you owe it to yourself to learn the real truth. Our God who gave us the powerful words of Scripture is not afraid for you to test out the truth. Deep and sound research will always show the Bible to be absolute truth. Find the truth, don’t believe myths that have already been proven false.
